Gurtogg Bloodboil
From xenowiki
5.6 Million HP. 10 min enrage. This is a survival battle and a healer gear check. Deals ~6k on plate ~9k crushing and over 20k to cloth.
Abilities:
- Fel Acid Breath: Frontal cone AoE attack dealt to a random target in melee range that deals 8k nature over 10 sec. Resistable.
- Arcing Smash: Frontal arc cleave attack with 4 yard range dealing 5k damage to anyone in front of Gurtogg. 10 sec CD.
Phase 1 Only:
- Bloodboil: Nonresistable/dispellabe debuff cast on the 5 raid members furthest from Gurtogg every 10 sec. Deals 600 damage per second over 24 seconds.
- Acidic Wound: Stacking debuff applied upon Gurtogg's melee hit every 2 seconds. Reduces armor by 500 and ticks for 250 damage per debuff. The stack expires 60 seconds after the last debuff was applied. It is avoidable by dodge, parries, or misses.
- Disorient: Like scatter shot. Disorients the current target causing a 5 sec aggro loss.
- Knockback: Knocks back the current target and reduces threat on that target.
Phase 2 Only:
- Fel Acid Breath: Cast only on Fel Rage target rather than random raid member.
- Arcing Smash: Damage is increased to 12k and also applies a Mortal Strike type debuff for 6 seconds.
- Fel Rage: (On player) 30 sec debuff cast on a random raid member every 90 seconds. +15k Armor, +30k Health, +100% healing done, +300% damage done, -50% cost to all spells and abilities, +100% size. Gurtogg will attack only the Fel Rage victim for 30 seconds until they are either dead or become invulnerable by Iceblock or Bubble, in which case he will return to the highest threat target.
- Fel Rage: (On self) Stacking buff which increases damage dealt. Will only attack the Fel Rage victim.
- Acid Geyser: 5 yard 5k nature damage AoE cast on the Fel Rage victim at the beginning of phase 2.
- Insignificance: All raid members recieve this resistable buff which eliminates threat caused by each player for the duration of the buff.
Strategy:
Raid Composition: 3 Tanks, 8-9 Healers (Only well experienced/geared raids should attempt with less, even 10 may be acceptable if the boss is too difficult), Mixed DPS. Due to the large amount of healing done in this fight 2-3 shadow priests in healer's groups can make this fight much less mana intensive, and as always, when coupled with a shaman, the spriest will return more mana longer with Wrath of Air and Mana Spring totems.
3 healers should be assigned to heal through BB damage (Resto Shaman/CoH priests), 1-2 healers on off tanks, and the rest on the MT.
Buffs, Potions and Gear:
Healers may wish to use as many +mp5 consumables as possible. Amplify Magic can be used to great effect in this fight.
Positioning:
Most raids fight him on the ramp leading down to his place. The melee group stands facing the right wall (behind the boss to avoid the cleave), tanks facing the boss with their backs to the right wall. Everybody else sets up on the ramp near the line drawn on the floor at the left wall. Three groups of five people each need to be assigned as Bloodboil (BB) soakers. The first of these groups sets up beyond the line with their backs to the left wall. See pictures here[[1]].
Phase 1: The first BB sponge group should be in their position behind the line on the floor near the left wall as he will cast the first BB 10 sec after he is engaged. After the first BB is taken, this group must IMMEDIATELY move forward into the raid and the second group must IMMEDIATELY move behind the line to soak up the second BB. After the second group soaks up BB, the third group will take their position, eat the BB, and move forward. At this time the debuff should be off of the first group and they will take their position to soak up the 4th BB. It is very important that this rotation continue. BB will be cast every 10 sec, so the assigned groups must pay attention to when it is their turn and take their position accordingly. After BB has been cast 5 times, Gurtogg will go into Fel Rage and Phase 2 will begin with 3 groups having the BB debuff. **DPS must stay below threat on all three tanks during this phase as Gurtogg is immune to taunt!** Save your cooldowns and trinkets for Phase 2 when you have the Insignificance buff. Five seconds before the transition to phase 2, it is adviseable for melee to move out as to not take an Arcing Smash when Gurtogg turns to attack the Fel Rage victim.
