High Astromancer Solarian is the third boss on xeno's Tempest Keep: The Eye kill list. Essentially, she is a blood elf/voidwalker half-breed who, like a squid's ink response, turns into a giant voidwalker when she gets scared.

Abilities

  • Arcane Missiles--She targets a random player and hits them with 3 missiles, each of which does 3k+ damage.
  • Wrath of the Astromancer--This is a debuff that affects one random target at a time (and anyone nearby) for five seconds. A skull is placed upon the head of the unlucky recipient, who will then be responsible to "GTFO" of the raid stack (see positions below). The spell damages that player and anyone in a small radius. At the end of the spell's duration, the unlucky player is then damaged for 7-8k and launched into the air, but not take fall damage. However, if the player is within 15 yards of another player at the time the debuff wears off, the OTHER player will also take 7-8k damage and launch into the air, but this person WILL take fall damage, and will probably die a squishy horrible death. NOTE: Iceblock, CoS, and BoP can all remove the debuff. USE THEM if you want to minimize trouble for healers.
  • Light of the Astromancer--Every 45 seconds, she calls down something that looks like moonfire on the entire raid at the same time. This does 2-3k damage to each person, and decreases arcane resist.
  • Fear--Harmless. Sends 5 people in melee range fleeing in horror.
  • Void Bolt--Does 5-6k damage to the person with highest aggro. Casts every 10 seconds or so.

Phase 1

The pull is simple: MT runs in, hunter Misdirects to tank to give him extra threat boost.

The ranged part of the raid picks a person (given the STAR raid icon) to stack on, and ALWAYS stacks on that person. If a skull appears on your head, run away from the raid to a safe distance. You can continue hitting the boss with spells, even with the debuff.

Melee runs in with the tank and stabs, punches, whacks, etc.

Burn her quickly and with great enthusiasm, because all she does here is stand in one place, shoot arcane missiles, and use Wrath of the Astromancer. Tank 'n' spank.

Phase 2

After 50 seconds, Solarian poofs away to magicland, and summons 14 adds from 3 beams of light that appear randomly in the middle platform. NOTE: Rogues and warriors should be assigned to either Right or Left Priest before the pull.

In this phase, it is vitally important that everyone stacks on the STAR. Even melee will want to get near the casters when the first 12 mobs come out, or at least get far enough away that none of them aggro on you before they see the rest of the raid. The first 12 mobs need to be pulled directly to the stack and AOE-killed by casters. Hunters can use traps on them, Warlocks use Seed of Corruption, etc. Do what you have to do, because these little guys need to die.

As SOON as the casters have solid aggro on the mobs, melee should head back up to the platform and position themselves to take the priests. A druid in Bear form should, at this point, join the melee on the platform to take Solarian when she reappears from one of the 3 beams of light.

Rogues and warriors are very important in this part of the fight, because the last 2 mobs Solarian summons are Priests that will heal her for quite a bit. It is VITAL that you stun, kick, or otherwise interrupt these heals as soon as they come up on the enemy's castbar. Casters should stay AWAY from these Priest mobs, as they have a silence ability.

Solarian reappears at the same time as the two Priests, and the druid tank should pick her up immediately. As soon as the AOE mobs are down, casters can continue to DPS Solarian. Be mindful that she can ALWAYS do her Wrath of the Astromancer ability when she is visible and in human form. This debuff will continue to go from player to player until Phase 3.

Once all mobs are down, continue as you did in Phase 1 until she does the beams of light again.

At 20% health, Solarian gets scared and "inks" herself into Phase 3.

Phase 3

Solarian turns into a giant voidwalker with lots of armor, but not much oomph. Tank and/or spank until she dies. Enjoy your loots!
