Loot Etiquette

The Code of Conduct states that xeno members are to be honorable when placing bids for items. Loot Etiquette dictates that members consider the good of the guild when making choices about gear upgrades. Passing on a significant upgrade in an attempt to hoard raid points is not acceptable. Likewise, the choice to bid on a minor upgrade or horizontal upgrade for you when it would significantly aid another player is frowned upon.

General Guidelines

In an effort to clarify our policies on loot distribution, without taking too much away from the free market system we currently use, we are introducing some General Loot Guidelines. These guiding principles apply to all xeno endorsed events, including Progression Content, Farm Content, and Guild PUGs.

main: The character that is your WotLK raid progression character. This character alone can be confirmed for progression raids and bid on gear. You may not change your main after patch 3.1 unless absolutely necessary for progression.

main spec: The role your main character normally plays in WotLK raids (DPS, tanking or healing). Normally you may only bid on gear that benefits your main role. (See exceptions below.) You may not change your main role after patch 3.1 unless absolutely necessary for progression.

off spec: Any spec other than your main spec. People may temporarily use an off spec for a progression raid if necessary. But gear for off specs can never be bid or rolled on unless no one else in the raid wants it for their main spec.

dual spec: Your 2nd spec. This is just another off spec of your choice. Do as you please with this spec. If you wish to make it a second raiding spec (e.g. PVE Resto/PVE Balance) that's totally up to you, but it is still an off spec as it pertains to loot and gets no special privileges. People may frequently switch to their dual spec for raids, or even individual fights, as it might benefit the group to do so.

alt: Any character but your main. Alts can come to any farm run, at the discretion of the raid leader, but never to a progression run unless it is absolutely necessary in order for the run to happen. Alts may never bid or roll on gear unless no one else wants it for their main spec.

All bids in 25 man raids and rolls in 10 mans will adhere to the following priority list:

  • 1. Main for main spec.
  • 2. Main for off spec/Alt for main spec.
  • 3. Alt for off spec.

Rare Recipes

Rare recipes will be treated in a slightly different manner than most other drops.

In 10 and 25 man raids, when a recipe drops, eligible crafters will roll for the recipe.

Eligibility requires the following:

  • Appropriate skill level
  • Fully earned escrow
  • Continuous and active xeno membership for at least the previous three months

If no eligible crafter is present (or those present already have the recipe), any raid member with that profession may roll. The recipe would not cost any RP. This same system would be used for all subsequent drops of the same pattern. This does not apply to patterns that create BoP items—those will be handled just like standard loot.

Quest Items

The first quest item (e.g., old world <item not found>Dragon Sinew</item not found>, <item not found>Wushoolay’s Mane</item not found>, etc.) is a bid, but subsequent items do not require you to spend additional RP. However, preference is given to those that are farthest along in a quest. So, if one hunter has had the leaf for a month with little to no progress in actually killing the demons, but another has had the leaf for a short time, but already killed all of them, the second hunter will receive the sinew. If multiple people are at the same point, then these individuals will roll to see who gets the item. If no one on the raid has any pieces, we will bid on the new piece.

Crafting Supplies

Epic Gems

Epic Gems are available from the Guild Bank for raiders who have acquired Tier 6 or equivalent gear that will not be replaced before Sunwell. Please speak with an Officer if you are interested in acquiring a gem. Our supplies may not allow us to give you three of one color, but we will do our best to accommodate you.

Rare/Epic BOE Drops

We will random for Rare and Epic World BOE drops in the same manner we random for Green BOEs in Karazhan. Raid-specific Epic BOE drops will be a silent auction for those individuals that need the item. This goes for both BOE set pieces and BOE weapons. No proxy bidding will be allowed. If an item drops that no one in the raid needs (e.g. Felheart BOEs) they will be sent to xenoauction, and auctioned off over the following week. This will be announced on the forums, and bidding will be done by posting your bid on the [Auction Forum]. The winner will receive the item, and the RP will be distributed to those who were on the raid. To see what items are currently available for bid, visit the [Auctions Forum].
