Moroes
From xenowiki
Moroes is the second boss on xeno's Karazhan kill list. Here is a rundown of the fight.

Abilities
Moroes is, for lack of a better comparison, a big undead rogue with a Vanish ability that actually works. As such, you'll find his abilities strikingly similar.
- Blind—This is the same Blind that regular rogues use. It renders your character sightless, doomed to wander in a daze until it wears off or is dispelled by a kind raid companion. It is always cast on the person second on Moroes’ aggro list.
- Gouge—Again, same as regular rogue ability. This is an incapacitate effect. Moroes casts this on the person with the most aggro, which is why you must have two tanks.
- Vanish—Periodically, Moroes disappears from view, giving you a brief chance to rest, before he reappears and uses...
- ...Garrote—Much like the player ability, Garrote is a damage-over-time spell which does approximately 1035 physical damage every three seconds for five minutes. Targeting is random on this one, so paying attention is key to survival. Can be dispelled with Blessing of Protection, or the dwarven ability Stoneform. Class abilities like Ice Block and Divine Shield will also remove Garrote. Note: Cloak of Shadows DOES NOT. This is tough to heal through, but it can be done. We highly recommend getting rid of this D.o.T. when possible!
- Enrage—At 30%, Moroes gets really angry, and starts hitting faster and harder. This shouldn’t be a problem if you don’t have too many Garrotes floating around.
Guests
This is a dinner party, people! You didn’t think those large tables of non-elites were the ONLY guests, did you? Pfff. Moroes has more powerful friends than that. In any Karazhan reset, you will get a mix of four of these six characters. Some should be killed immediately if present, some can be kited, shackled, feared, frozen, etc. Here they are in kill:
- Baroness Dorothea Millstipe—Shadow priest. She hits hard, and does mana burn. She needs to die quickly. Stuns and spell interrupts are a plus while killing her.
- Lady Catriona Von’Indi—Holy priest. She’ll heal stuff, but she’s easy to kill, so take her down quickly. If both she and the shadow priest are in the group, there’s a good chance you’ll want to shackle the remaining two guests.
- Lady Keira Berrybuck—Holy paladin. She heals, buffs, shines, slices, dices…Don’t use CC on her unless the above casters are present.
- Baron Rafe Drueger—Retribution paladin. He is dangerous only because once he comes out of CC, he goes straight for your priests and stuns them. This is a bad thing.
- Lord Robin Daris—Mortal Strike warrior. Generally, you should CC this fellow until such time as Moroes is even more of a corpse than usual. If you only have one form of CC, kill him before the protection warrior.
- Lord Crispin Ference—Protection warrior. As with the other warrior, generally CC this one.
Opinions vary on kill order for the guests. Some guides will say kill three, CC one. Generally, we try to CC as many as possible/logical, and what remains. We ALWAYS kill the two priests. Essentially, the faster you start smacking Moroes, the better. Those garrotes are awful.
Strategy
Have the Main Tank (MT) and Off Tank (OT) pull Moroes off to the right side (if you’re facing the stairs) and tank him near the wall. Priests should shackle their targets immediately. The rest of your CC should go into effect right now, and remain effective until Moroes is dead. Kill the remaining guests in whatever order you’ve decided on in advance.
While you’re killing the guests, the MT and OT will be getting as much aggro as possible. When the MT gets gouged, the OT needs to turn his back to Moroes, so he does not also get gouged. Priests need to watch for blind on the tanks so they can dispel it as soon as possible.
Once your chosen guests have been sent back to their graves, you may converge on the boss. Priests in charge of shackles MUST remain aware of the shackled guest at all times. Other raid members in charge of CC must NOT neglect that duty, or there will be a wipe.
Healers watch out for garrotes. A few heal over time spells will probably keep the injured person from death's door, and it is helpful to have a Prayer of Mending bouncing among garroted players.
DPS Moroes down as quickly as possible, watch your threat, call out garrotes (example: “Garrote on Tamlyn”), and keep up with CC. Once Moroes hits 30%, he Enrages, which makes healing a little trickier, but if you’ve been wise with shackles and mana, you should be fine. Good luck!
