Teron Gorefiend
From xenowiki
Teron Gorefiend is the second boss in the Black Temple. There's quite a bit of Warcraft lore surrounding this shadowy figure, and you can read up on it here.

Abilities
Gorefiend really only has a couple of abilities to worry about, but here are all of them as listed on Bosskillers.
- Doom Blossom—Shadowy bolts from clouds above the raid. Hits for ~1500.
- Shadow of Death--THIS IS IMPORTANT! Once you have this debuff, you have about 60 seconds to live. You may continue to DPS or heal during most of this, but be sure you're in the back corners away from the raid by the time you die. This will be explained below.
- Crushing Shadows—Debuff: 50% more shadow damage taken. Applied to 5 random raid members. Cloak of Shadows, Iceblock, and Divine Shield will remove it.
- Incinerate—Deals 2.7 to 3.5k to a random player, and tics for the same every second for 3 seconds. Dispel this. Save CoS, Iceblock, and DS for this if you want. It's more problematic than Crushing Shadows.
Shadowy Constructs
These hit for about 800 to 2000 damage if they manage to get to the raid. This wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that:
- Atrophy—Whenever a player is hit by a construct, this debuff lowers attack speed by 5%. It can stack up to 10 times.
Note: The Shadowy Constructs can only be hit by players in ghost form. That is to say, after your Shadow of Death debuff finishes, and you die, you are the only one who can hit them.
Strategy
This is more or less a tank'n'spank fight. The main tank is really the only tank needed. Positioning for killing him isn't TOO important. Fast, strong DPS is KEY here. Aggro management plays a small role. Just don't pull aggro from the tank. You can NOT afford for the MT to have Shadow of Death. Gorefiend has relatively low HP. Sounds easy right? Well, only sorta.
The problem with this fight is his ability Shadow of Death. When your time is up, you should be either to the left or the right back by the entrance to Gorefiend's room, as shown on the little position map. This is very important, because as soon as you die and become a ghost, FOUR Shadowy Constructs will spawn and haul ass for the raid.
Ghost Form
Once you are in ghost form, you will find yourself with 5 new abilities to replace your main bar. Note: Some people say it shows up as a pet bar, and people with Bar mods might want to do a little more research into just where these abilities will appear. It is VITAL that they show up on some bar so you can easily do your job.
The following abilities are numbered oddly because that is the position they should appear in on your bar if all goes correctly. If you've re-bound your regular castbar, these numbers will not be correct
- 1: Spirit Strike—General melee attack. Do not use until constructs are dead.
- 3: Spirit Lance—VERY IMPORTANT attack that does damage and slows down the Constructs by 30% for 3 seconds. Stacks 3 times. This is your main damage spell.
- 4: Spirit Chains—VERY IMPORTANT. This is an AOE shackle that does damage and lasts 5 seconds
- 5: Spirit Volley—This is an AOE attack that does damage. You probably won't use this much, and if you do, make sure it's BEFORE you use Spirit Chains.
- 7: Spirit Shield—Protects a single target for 11k to 17k shadow damage. Why is this even here?
The order of operations some players use is:
- Spam Spirit Chains as SOON as the constructs spawn. This is a speed and precision game.
- Using tab targeting, or whatever is fastest for you (FAST being key), pop a Spirit Lance on each of the four Constructs. Do this until Spirit Chains is ready to use
- Hit Spirit Volley and follow IMMEDIATELY with Spirit Chains
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all your Constructs are dead.
- Go help kill any out-of-control constructs. If there are none loose, Go melee Gorefiend.
After 60 seconds, Gorefiend will kill you permanently and another player will take your place as the ghost. This is the HARDEST PART of this fight, and if you're nervous, take the above information and apply it to this sample game.
